When we talk about the trident, some think it is a form of evil, but that is not true... Gods and Tridents have always mixed together, see Poseidon, the God of the Seas. The Trident is the Symbol of Power and so it is with Exu or Pomba Gira.
It is said that the straight trident is from Exu and the rounded one from Pomba Gira, both having the same symbolism.
The trident is a magical symbology of the ternary in conjunction with mother earth, that is, it represents the three points facing upwards, seeking to reach the threshold of heights and with that, the spiritual evolution that is necessary for all beings.
The trident itself has the four primordial elements: Air, Water and Fire due to its three points facing upwards, and the earth element (which is symbolically associated with the number 4) due to the central rod that is based on the Earth, forming in itself a magically perfect tool.
