Zinc Oxide is a chemical compound of the formula ZnO, white powder format has the property of preventing wrinkles and sunburn of the skin. Traditionally it is used to, mixed with a base cream, cover the nose and cheeks and thus avoid sunburn, as it is considered one of the biggest sun blockers.
ZINC OXIDE
- Insoluble in water and alcohol, but soluble in acids.
Properties and Applications :
- It is astringent (closes the pores of the skin) and soothing the skin.
- It is used in face powder to accentuate its opacity. (concentration - about 15% to 20%).
- The solar properties are lower than those of titanium dioxide, however they are useful in the preparation of aerosols or UV protection creams.
